World House, building less expensive houses for the needy

A modular building system allows people to create any size and configuration they want. A base model can be built in 10 days at a starting cost of about $1,500.

WorldHaus is working with microfinance institutions and regional rural banks to make their homes available for monthly installments of $20, well within the reach of rural middle class families making between $3 and $10 a day.

Such a house includes toilets, burning stoves, and solar electricity systems. A base model is a one-room, 20 square meter (220 square foot) home.
